Terms of Service

Effective Date: June 24, 2026 Last Updated: June 24, 2026

Plain-language summary: Skoolit helps parents organize school and activity communications. You grant us permission to read your emails solely to power your calendar. We never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time. Children's data is handled with extra care under COPPA and FERPA. These Terms are a legal contract — please read them fully.

Questions? Email us at [email protected].

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Skoolit, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

These Terms and Conditions of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Skoolit, Inc. ("Skoolit," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Skoolit platform, including our website, mobile applications, browser extensions, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, accessing the Service, or clicking "I agree" or any similar button, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. If you do not have such authority, you must not use the Service on behalf of that organization.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes.

2. Description of Service

Skoolit reads school and activity emails, builds your family calendar, and helps you stay organized — so you can spend less time in your inbox.

Skoolit is a family organization platform designed to help parents and caregivers manage school-related and extracurricular communications and scheduling. The Service includes:

  • Email Integration: Automated reading and processing of emails from schools, teachers, coaches, and activity organizers to extract dates, deadlines, events, and action items.
  • Calendar Generation: Automatic creation and maintenance of a unified family calendar based on processed email content and user-provided information.
  • Notification System: Configurable reminders and alerts for upcoming events, deadlines, and action items.
  • Document Organization: Storage and categorization of permission slips, forms, and other school-related documents.
  • Family Sharing: Tools enabling multiple caregivers to access and collaborate on family calendar and organization features.
  • AI-Assisted Features: Artificial intelligence tools that help extract, categorize, and summarize information from communications.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time with reasonable notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

3. Account Registration and Security

Keep your account secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.

3.1 Account Creation

To access most features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 years of age or older. The Service is not intended for use by minors.

3.3 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:

  • Create a strong, unique password for your Skoolit account.
  • Not share your login credentials with any unauthorized third parties.
  • Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.
  • Ensure you log out of your account at the end of each session when using shared devices.

We reserve the right to disable any user account at any time in our sole discretion, including if we believe you have violated these Terms.

3.4 One Account Per User

Each individual may maintain only one personal account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or obtain additional benefits is prohibited.

4. Children's Privacy and Educational Records

We take children's data seriously. We comply with COPPA and FERPA. Children's information is used only to provide the service to you, their parent or guardian.

4.1 COPPA Compliance

Skoolit does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 years of age. Our Service is directed to parents and caregivers, not children. When parents or caregivers use our Service, they may share information about their children as part of managing family schedules and activities. We collect and use this information solely to provide the Service to the parent or caregiver account holder.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has independently provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us at [email protected]. We will take steps to remove such information.

4.2 FERPA Compliance

We recognize that some communications processed through our Service may contain information from educational records protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). When we process emails from schools, we act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest as defined under FERPA, insofar as we process educational records solely to provide the Service at the direction of the parent or eligible student.

We do not use educational record information for any purpose other than providing the Service, and we do not sell, share, or use student data for advertising or to build profiles for non-educational purposes.

4.3 Parental Rights

As the account holder and parent or guardian, you have the right to:

  • Review all information about your children stored in your Skoolit account.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information about your children.
  • Delete your account and all associated data, including information about your children.

5. Email and Calendar Connections

When you connect your email, you authorize us to read messages to power your calendar. We access only what's needed and never use your emails for advertising.

5.1 Email Access Authorization

To use the core features of the Service, you must authorize Skoolit to access your email account(s). By granting this authorization, you give us permission to:

  • Read emails in your connected inbox(es), including emails from schools, teachers, coaches, and activity organizers.
  • Identify and extract information relevant to family scheduling, events, deadlines, and action items.
  • Store extracted structured data (event names, dates, locations, descriptions) in your Skoolit account.
  • Apply labels or filters to emails within your email client as directed by you.

5.2 Scope of Email Access

We access your emails solely to provide the Service. We do not:

  • Read, store, or process emails for advertising purposes.
  • Sell email content or metadata to third parties.
  • Use email content to train AI models without explicit consent (see Section 6).
  • Share email content with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

5.3 Calendar Integration

When you connect a third-party calendar (such as Google Calendar or Apple Calendar), you authorize us to read existing calendar events and create, update, and delete events on your behalf. We access calendar data solely to power the Skoolit calendar features.

5.4 Revoking Access

You may revoke email or calendar access at any time through your account settings or directly through your email or calendar provider. Revoking access will limit your ability to use certain features of the Service but will not automatically delete data already extracted and stored in your Skoolit account.

6. AI Processing and Data Use

We use AI to read and organize your emails. Your data isn't used to train AI models unless you explicitly opt in.

6.1 AI-Assisted Features

The Service uses artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to process and analyze your emails and calendar information. These technologies are used to extract events, deadlines, and action items; categorize and prioritize information; generate summaries and reminders; and improve the accuracy of information extraction over time.

6.2 Third-Party AI Services

We may use third-party AI service providers to power certain features. When we do, we share only the minimum data necessary and require these providers to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security standards. We do not permit third-party AI providers to use your data to train their own models.

6.3 AI Training Opt-In

We will not use your personal data, email content, or information about your children to train our AI models without your explicit, informed consent. If we offer an opt-in program for users who wish to contribute to model improvement, we will clearly describe what data would be used, how it would be anonymized or de-identified, and what benefits participants receive. You may withdraw consent at any time.

6.4 Accuracy of AI Outputs

AI-generated content, event extractions, summaries, and suggestions are provided for convenience and may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any AI-generated information before relying on it. We disclaim liability for errors in AI-generated content to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7. Subscription, Billing, and Payment

We offer a free trial and paid subscription plans. You can cancel anytime. Unused time is not refunded, but you keep access through the end of your paid period.

7.1 Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for new users. During the free trial, you will have access to all or a subset of Service features. At the end of the free trial period, your account will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. We will notify you before the trial period expires.

7.2 Subscription Plans and Pricing

Skoolit subscriptions are offered on a per-family basis. Current pricing is as follows:

Plan Tier Monthly Price Annual Price
First child $4.99 / month $47.88 / year
Second child (add-on) +$3.00 / month +$28.80 / year
Third child (add-on) +$2.00 / month +$19.20 / year
Each additional child +$1.00 / month +$9.60 / year

Prices are in U.S. dollars and are subject to change. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before increasing subscription prices. Price changes will apply to your next billing cycle after the notice period.

7.3 Billing

By subscribing, you authorize us to charge the payment method on file on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selected plan). You agree to provide accurate and complete payment information and to update it as necessary. Subscription fees are billed in advance.

7.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to the Service until the end of the paid period. We do not provide refunds for unused portions of a subscription period except as required by applicable law or as described in our refund policy.

7.5 Failed Payments

If a payment fails, we will notify you and may attempt to recharge the payment method. If payment is not received within a grace period (typically 7 days), your account may be downgraded or suspended. We are not responsible for any loss of data or access resulting from account suspension due to non-payment.

7.6 Taxes

Subscription prices do not include applicable taxes. You are responsible for all taxes associated with your subscription, and we will add applicable taxes to your invoice where required by law.

8. Caregiver Access

You can invite other caregivers (co-parents, grandparents, babysitters) to access your family calendar with different permission levels.

The primary account holder may invite additional caregivers to access the family calendar and organizational features. Invited caregivers must create their own Skoolit accounts and agree to these Terms.

The primary account holder controls the level of access granted to each caregiver, including:

  • View-only access: The caregiver can view calendar events and information but cannot make changes.
  • Editor access: The caregiver can add, edit, and delete events and tasks.
  • Full access: The caregiver has the same capabilities as the primary account holder (excluding billing and account deletion).

The primary account holder is responsible for ensuring that all invited caregivers use the Service in compliance with these Terms. The primary account holder may revoke caregiver access at any time through account settings.

9. Co-Parent Linking

Skoolit offers co-parent linking for separated or divorced families. Each co-parent has their own account; you control what's shared.

For families with separated or divorced co-parents, Skoolit offers a co-parent linking feature that allows two independent accounts to share specified calendar information. Co-parent linking is subject to the following conditions:

  • Each co-parent must have their own independent Skoolit account and agree to these Terms.
  • Linking requires mutual consent — both co-parents must accept the link invitation.
  • Each co-parent controls which of their calendar events and information is shared with the other.
  • Either co-parent may unlink accounts at any time through account settings.
  • We are not responsible for disputes between co-parents regarding calendar information or access.

Co-parent linking does not grant one co-parent access to the other's email, private notes, or billing information.

10. Acceptable Use

Use Skoolit for legitimate family organization. Don't misuse the service or attempt to harm other users or our systems.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable federal, state, local, or international laws or regulations.
  • Connect email accounts that you do not own or have authorization to access.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or our systems.
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the Service in a manner that circumvents normal usage patterns.
  • Transmit any malicious code, viruses, or other harmful materials through the Service.
  • Use the Service to harass, harm, or intimidate any person.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Circumvent any security features or access controls of the Service.
  • Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our infrastructure.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercialize the Service or your access to it without our written permission.

We reserve the right to investigate potential violations and, in our sole discretion, to take appropriate action including removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting to law enforcement authorities.

11. Intellectual Property

You own your data. We own the Skoolit platform and technology. By using the service, you give us a limited license to process your data on your behalf.

11.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you provide to the Service, including emails processed, calendar events, notes, documents, and other information ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant Skoolit a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, copy, process, adapt, and display Your Content solely to the extent necessary to provide the Service to you.

11.2 Skoolit Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, algorithms, and all content created by Skoolit (excluding Your Content), is owned by Skoolit and protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service without our written permission.

11.3 Feedback

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, implement, and commercialize that Feedback without restriction or compensation to you.

11.4 Trademarks

"Skoolit" and the Skoolit logo are trademarks of Skoolit, Inc. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written permission.

12. Privacy and Data Security

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information, including information about your children. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

In the event of a security breach that may affect your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

13. Third-Party Services

Skoolit integrates with Google, Apple, and other third-party services. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

The Service integrates with third-party platforms and services, including email providers (such as Google Gmail and Microsoft Outlook), calendar services (such as Google Calendar and Apple Calendar), and other services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

By connecting a third-party service to Skoolit, you represent that you have the authority to grant us the access permissions requested and that doing so does not violate any agreements you have with the third-party service provider.

We may include links to third-party websites or services in the Service. These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse or assume responsibility for any third-party websites or services.

14. Disclaimers of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SKOOLIT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

SKOOLIT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL FUNCTION UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR AVAILABLE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME OR LOCATION; (B) ANY ERRORS OR DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; (C) THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS; (D) THE RESULTS OF USING THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; OR (E) AI-GENERATED CONTENT OR EVENT EXTRACTIONS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT SKOOLIT DOES NOT CONTROL THE TIMING, CONTENT, OR ACCURACY OF COMMUNICATIONS FROM SCHOOLS, TEACHERS, OR ACTIVITY ORGANIZERS. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MISSED EVENTS, DEADLINES, OR INFORMATION THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN OR ACCURATELY EXTRACTED FROM YOUR COMMUNICATIONS.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SKOOLIT, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, SERVICE INTERRUPTION, COMPUTER DAMAGE, OR SYSTEM FAILURE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF SKOOLIT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, OUR LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

IN ALL CASES, SKOOLIT'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SKOOLIT IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Skoolit and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, and fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of or access to the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights; (d) any content or information you provide to the Service; or (e) your violation of any applicable law.

17. Dispute Resolution

If there's a dispute, we'd prefer to work it out directly. If we can't, disputes are resolved through binding arbitration — not class action lawsuits.

17.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and describe the dispute in writing. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days of receiving your notice. If we cannot reach a resolution within 30 days, either party may proceed to binding arbitration as described below.

17.2 Binding Arbitration

Except as provided in Section 17.4 below, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted in English, and the arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.

You and Skoolit agree that each party will bear its own costs and fees in the arbitration proceeding, except that we will pay all AAA filing, administration, and arbitrator fees for claims not exceeding $10,000, unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous.

17.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND SKOOLIT AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. Unless both you and Skoolit agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.

17.4 Exceptions

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights or to prevent imminent harm that cannot be adequately addressed through arbitration. Additionally, claims within the jurisdictional limit of small claims court may be brought in small claims court.

17.5 Opt-Out

You may opt out of the arbitration agreement within 30 days of first creating your Skoolit account by sending written notice to [email protected] with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and including your name, account email address, and a statement that you wish to opt out of the arbitration agreement. Opting out does not affect any other provisions of these Terms.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For any disputes not subject to arbitration under Section 17, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal and state courts located in Delaware. If you are located outside the United States, local laws may provide you with additional rights that these Terms cannot override.

19. General Provisions

19.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other agreements expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Skoolit regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether oral or written.

19.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it will be severed from these Terms.

19.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by a duly authorized representative of Skoolit.

19.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms, by operation of law or otherwise, without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms, in whole or in part, to any affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or operation of law, without notice to you.

19.5 Force Majeure

Neither party will be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, infrastructure failures, or third-party service provider outages.

19.6 Notices

We may provide notices to you via email, in-app notification, or by posting to our website. You must provide notices to us via email at [email protected] or by mail to our registered address.

19.7 No Third-Party Beneficiaries

These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights. Only you and Skoolit may enforce these Terms.
